3D-IMA: Simulation of the Visual Impact of a Planning Project
Author of the model: Kamal SERRHINI
Creation date:
The goals of 3D-IMA:
- simulation of visual impacts of a (punctual or linear) planning project on the landscape;
- taking part in the multicriterion estimation process of the layouts or in the localisation of a development;
- determination of spaces (landscapes, communities, residents) having priority with respect to the French grant called "1% landscape and development".
The principles of the model result from the Euclidean geometry applied to the graph theory.
The model is deterministic because it respects the law "all or nothing" (visible or invisible).
Theoretical references: Graph theory, Euclidean geometry
- 1) Static model: simulation at a time t of the Spatial CoVisibility (or Localised Visibility) -VLS- and of the Spatial Generalized Visibility -VGS- of a develoment
- 2) Dynamic model: simulation in course of time of the Spatial-time Generalized Visibility of a develoment. Taking into account the population of the site : Anthropic Visibility.
Inputs
land surface model (LSM) 3D and installations (surface modeling in 2,5D -motorway- or voluminal in 3D -building, profile of a linear work-)
Outputs
Values, tables
Maps
Comments The software (3D-IMA) carries out only calculations. For the cartography of the results, existing software for computer based design has to be used (e.g. AutoCAD R14 or the free software IntelliCAD 2000).
